Today at work…

By admin, 24 September, 2009, No Comment

It seems I’m not the only one going through a temporary lull at work at the moment. By no means is this a permanent thing and I quite welcome it for the time being before the truck load arrives. However, during yesterday’s quiet patch I received a humorous email from a good friend, I hope he doesn’t mind me including it on the site, tough shit if he does. We all had to do a chapter on how our day was going and here is his:

Dan stared listlessly at the monitor in front of him. The image had barely changed for an hour - a list of meaningless numbers and technical jargon, interspersed with his sporadic facebook and hotmail visits. He thought about having another coffee, and idly set fire to his pocket whilst fiddling with his lighter.

I hate…

  • People who eat with their mouth open: I’m not sure how you were brought up or which forest it was in but the last thing I want to see or hear is your snaggle-toothed tunnel sized mouth munching on cheese cake. If you can’t help it, sympathy given but I hear there are some pretty decent masks out there.
  • The curious stopper:Look at me, I’m walking around town, having a stroll. Oh look..isn’t that dress nice, let’s stop right here in the middle of the pathway and look at it” Not aware that it’s Saturday afternoon in the city centre and I’ve just had to dodge you bastard because I do not possess telepathic powers that tell me when you are going to randomly stop in front of me. Not only that but I had to dodge the oncoming man who then probably thought I was a bastard. So, you enjoy that dress, shame you won’t fit into it.

Facebook Launches New @ Name Tagging

By admin, 15 September, 2009, 1 Comment

So today I discovered that Facebook have launched a Twitter style name tagging system within their Status update feature. You simply add a @ then start typing the first letters of the name and then pick the person from the list below.

In Twitter, this makes sense. Facebook though, why?  Yeah it’s another feature, yeah people will get to find friends of friends and add them on to their network, I still think it’s pointless. What next…eliminate profile walls and people communicate directly through the homepage feed via updates….oh wait…Twitter?

Choosing An Affiliate Program

By admin, 8 September, 2009, No Comment

How to choose an affiliate program?

Back when time was something I took for granted and little affiliate sites were a hobby, I remember thinking “How the hell do you just pick out something to do?”. Now I remember how I went about selecting them, even sometimes completely ignoring all the below points and just taking a big risk and failing hideously.  If you’re new to the game and you’re looking for a few things to consider then check out my pointers below…(if you’re not new to the game, I’d imagine by now you take them all into account anyway!)

  1. Is the product which you are trying to sell something you believe will sell?
  2. In other words, do you believe in this product and is it something you yourself or perhaps a family friend can imagine buying. If not, then walk away. You have to believe in what you are selling or believe that if you needed it, that it’s something you’d at least consider.

Top Post Rock Bands

So here we have my top post rock bands. Can we just re-emphasize the whole ‘MY” part of the previous sentence, I know we all have our own preferences and such but this a list based on the following:

How many times played / Days Known Band.

Roughly anyway. Actually I just picked them in order of how much I enjoy them, but I enjoy them all equally. Not really.

Anyway…

1. This will destroy you

This Texas band haven’t been on my playlist for that long but by golly (what did I just say? golly? Shit.) they will remain on it for a long time to come. Almost every track on both albums I have (This Will Destroy You & Young Mountain) is a masterpiece to my little Irish ears. Closely followed by ‘Quiet’ as my favorite track there’s ‘A Three-Legged Workhorse’  & ‘Threads’. If you haven’t heard of them before or you have but haven’t heard their music, I advise it muchos. My SEO In A Nutshell – Basics

Seo Tips

So I’ve decided to do a summary of SEO basics which I’m assuming most people should follow or take into consideration when starting or maintaining a websites SEO.

Many of you out there who will be reading this will probably have your own opinions on what will be listed in my SEO tips section. What I’ll say now is that, this is a very basic and summarized  jumbled up list of points that I think, if you are not SEO aware, should take into account along your travels. Some of the points you may disagree to or may want to even add you own little bit; in which case please do so and leave a comment.

The first half or so cover mainly onsite SEO then slowly moves into offsite SEO. Sorry for the randomness of the order but hope it makes sense. All the below tips and such have helped me along the way and whilst some have more weight than others in terms of effectivness, they are all worth considering.

Here we go…

By admin, 2 September, 2009, No Comment

I guess for someone who spends a lot of time online reading other peoples blogs I should really have my own. Despite the effort it took me to get this all up and running (Effort=Max), it’s been worth it.

So, what are you going to expect to see on here? Feck knows. I’ll try and share my knowledge with online marketing, share interesting things I read and of course ramble on about pretty much anything which I feel necessary.

Points to take into account:

1) My spelling is shite. But I do know how to use spell checker.

2) Swearing may be a common theme. Sorry.

3) I enjoy whiskey.

4) I’m Irish if you haven’t guessed already. (Cheers Liz)!
